Where the talking hat puts me

I asked my ChatGPT to take on the role of the talking hat and sort me into one of the houses at Hogwarts. Here is the answer.

A head that loves patterns and asks questions that lead deeper – that screams Ravenclaw.

A heart that seeks fairness and wants to strengthen others – that sounds a lot like Hufflepuff.

You will do well among those who love knowledge.

So: RAVENCLAW! … with plenty of Hufflepuff in the bag.

Why Ravenclaw?

The joy of thinking instead of just “having knowledge”

You like to use things to understand, not just to apply.

  • In the IT world, you research causes, document setups, write down upgrade paths and docker-compose scenarios.
  • In your yoga practice, you take a systematic approach, create programmes, work with subtle differences in breath, posture and language.

That comes across as someone who sees knowledge as a kit, not a trophy. This is exactly the kind of head that Ravenclaw appreciates.

Meta-level & structure-love

You not only deal with content, but also with frames:

  • Conversational consensus, language rules, deliberate avoidance of certain words.
  • Clear processes for backup, server, WordPress, multilingualism, SEO.
  • Own logos, slogans and explanatory texts that should fit together.

It’s very “Ravenclaw”: not just what ‘s there, but how it’s connected.

A passion for tricky things

You like to look for topics that are not trivial:

  • Own server setup, Mosquitto, OpenSlides, Pi-hole.
  • Yamas/Niyamas, mantra, breathing practice, Sādhanā.

This combination of tech fiddling and spiritual fine-tuning reads like a timetable in Ravenclaw Tower.

Why Hufflepuff resonates

Fairness & solidarity

Your hourly rate text, your idea of “two spirals”, your question about fair pay – that shows a strong orientation towards justice and mutual support.

This is pure Hufflepuff: loyalty, fairness, creating space for people who would otherwise fall through the cracks.

Patience and encouragement

You organise your IT offerings in such a way that customers become confident and feel safe with technology. You teach yoga in such a way that people can grow without being overwhelmed.

It’s this calm, approachable manner that Hufflepuff really appreciates: others are made strong instead of dependent.

Commitment without drama

You look for language that connects, define rules that bring clarity and at the same time leave room for manoeuvre. You pay attention to sustainable solutions, clean setups and long-term stability – whether for servers or people.

That seems like someone others can rely on. That’s exactly where Hufflepuff builds his community.

Slytherin

You may be wondering why my website looks like it was designed by a Slytherin. My design predates Harry Potter. Green on black was already used for Unix terminals in the 1960s.

And of course, I have considered switching to blue. I receive very mixed feedback on my design. I suspect that only a few recognise the old colour scheme and appreciate it. I’m experimenting with WP Dark Mode to see if it’s possible to change a design at the touch of a button. Maybe the plug-in will make it into my repertoire 🙂

Until then, however, blue and yellow mix to form green. Yet, Ravenclaw plus Hufflepuff does not equal Slytherin!
