Third infusion

With the discontinuation of Windows 10, many functioning computers are being sidelined. The hardware is fine, only the operating system no longer receives any updates. That makes me sad, because the old hardware is still good enough for some purposes. It’s time for the third infusion!

Space for something meaningful

I take such devices back, set them up fresh and install a lean, stable Linux1. After that, they continue to run reliably and largely free of upgrade pressure (even Linux needs updates!!). Ideal for e-mail, text and numbers, music or simply for surfing.

There are also solutions with Linux for most applications. Yes, it does look different at first and perhaps a little scary, too. And with a little courage to try something new and, if necessary, an introduction, it is feasible. Windows 11 also looks different to Windows 10:-)

I give the reinfused computers to people who need them and who may lack the necessary change: new starters, travelling companions, single parents, students, you:-)

I like to give the hardware away so that it stays in circulation – as a small contribution to collective sustainability. Depending on the effort involved, I only charge for the transfer of data from Windows to Linux.

And of course, if a third infusion isn’t enough, I’ll also look for up-to-date used systems that run Windows 11 and perhaps its successor. Unfortunately, there are currently no exact specifications for what Microsoft has in store for us…
